Yemen arrest Al-Qaeda group who were planning 10 suicide attacks
Kuwait News Agency - 02 July, 2012 Yemen have foiled a total number of 10 Al-Qaeda terrorist suicide attempts in its capital Sanaa, a security source said Sunday.
These operations would have been successful had it not been for the capturing of several terrorist cells operating in the country, including a group responsible for having masterminded an explosion in May, which killed 400 Yemeni soldiers at a local military parade, according to the source.
The group were planning to carry out several attacks in the eastern region of Hadramaut, which would have led to huge human casualties.
Yemeni President Abdo Rabbu Mansour Hadi has been presented a report on the success of the mission by senior security officials.
A few days ago, security forces arrested a terrorist group who planned and executed the assassination of a senior military commanding officer and managed to foil two suicide attacks in the southern city of Aden. |
