3 new degree programmes

Oman Daily Observer - 01 August, 2012

The Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) unveiled three new undergraduate degree programmes from September.

These Bachelor of Science programmes are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education are Aviation Management, Health and Safety Management and Commercial Law.

The Aviation Management programme is designed for students seeking to pursue a career in the world of aviation. Balancing key aviation concepts with advanced business strategy, the curriculum provides students a solid foundation of aviation expertise, industry standards, principles of management, and leadership delivered by aviation industry experts.

Aviation is the most dynamic international industry and the students pursuing the degree in aviation management may work in the areas of business operations, marketing, logistics, flight operations, public and employee relations, and at a senior level they may take responsibilities for planning and supervising maintenance and safety programmes.

The Health and Safety Management programme offers an impressive array of opportunities for students to integrate theory and practice while studying. This programme will prepare students for positions in occupational health and safety within public and private organisations as advisers, inspectors, trainers or managers.

The Commercial Law programme will develop the relevant skills, knowledge and technical know-how in the area of business law and legal functions in Oman and abroad. Students will study both business administration and business law.
The programme offers a thorough grounding in salient aspects of managing a business and an in-depth understanding of the business statutes and the congruent criminal and civil statutes.
Students choosing to study commercial law will find jobs in Law firms, work as legal advisers in public and private organisations, work in any of the growing number of international trading ventures, or establish their own legal practice.

Graduates from this programme may also take further studies that will lead them to practice as barristers or solicitors.

Dr Ahmed Al Naamany, Dean of MCBS said: 'The new programmes reflect MCBS's commitment to providing students with strong academic offerings and a quality education that leads to successful careers. MCBS is all about generating job-ready graduates who are able to apply themselves and use their acquired knowledge and skills to directly and positively contribute in the economic development of our country. We anticipate a great interest in these new offerings because they represent the needs of the workforce, both now and in the future.'
